Spring UTeach France Exchange Coordinator

Pam started with the UTeach Program as the original mathematics Master Teacher in January 2001. She worked for 23 years as the Coordinator of Student Teaching (last field experience for students completing the UTeach Program). She is currently the Associate Director of UTeach Natural Sciences and she teaches Mathematics Courses for the College of Natural Sciences and for Texas Global. Pam coordinates the evaluation of student portfolios and assists students in obtaining teaching jobs after graduation. Every spring semester (since 2003) she has coordinated the UTeach – France exchange program where teachers from France come to Austin to shadow and observe student teachers and afterward the participating student teachers travel to France to observe their hosted French student teacher.

After being a Teaching Assistant and Supplemental Instructor at the University of Texas at Austin, Pam taught mathematics in middle school and high school in Austin ISD. She also taught developmental mathematics courses at Austin Community College for several years. Since 1998, Pam has taught mathematics courses for the University of Texas at Austin. She is specifically interested in special populations of students who either struggle in mathematics or students who are ready for the challenges of mathematics but have come from other countries and are not fluent with mathematics taught in English. During her years at the University of Texas at Austin, Pam has served as an academic advisor in Engineering and a mathematics learning specialist.
