Early field experiences provide our students the opportunity to explore the profession of teaching in a hands-on way and decide if teaching is right for them. Classroom Interactions is the third field course in the UTeach sequence and it is the first opportunity for students to teach lessons in a high school classroom. CI students complete a minimum of three observations and teach three classes during the semester. This document outlines the duties and expectations for Mentor Teachers. Please review it and us if you have any questions.
Mentor Teachers attend a planning session early in the semester to meet UTeach teachers as well as plan and schedule the field experiences.
Mentor Teachers provide feedback on lesson plans and communicate with teaching teams about lesson content and logistics as needed.
Mentor Teachers supervise UTeach students during classroom visits. These visits consist of both observation and instruction.
Mentor Teachers document classroom visits by signing time stamped student observation or lesson feedback forms.
Mentor Teachers recieve a stipend for each team of students that they supervise.

NOTE: These forms are important as students read and reflect on them before the next teach. They also provide evidence that students have taught each lesson, a requirement for passing the course.
