Austin Achieve is a tuition-free, open enrollment public charter school preparing East Austin youth to attend and excel at top universities. We are building the next generation of community leaders by closing the opportunity gap for our students and their families. We currently serve approximately 1500 students in K - 12th grades. Our scholars are 92% Latino, 5% African-American, and 2% Caucasian. Based on family income, over 96% of Austin Achieve scholars qualify for Free or Reduced Lunch, a food assistance program with eligibility determined by proximity to the poverty line.

An intern for AAPS you will get to become a part of an innovative team that is committed to next-level education for students who need it most. As a new school, our programs are always evolving so you will work alongside a teacher that generates her/his own curriculum and have access to the newest technological tools and systems (Google Classroom, a variety of learning apps, and a brand new, fully equipped new school building). We are looking for an intern that is excited about new trends in education and willing to experiment.

What we are looking for in an intern:

Interns should be enthusiastic and excited about science, education, and being a part of a founding team.
Interns should be able to serve as an excellent role model for our students about what it means to be a college student. Our school motto is “All Students. College Ready.”
Interns should possess strong organizational skills, professional maturity and flexibility, and the commitment to fulfill responsibilities with high quality.
Interns should be eager to interact with out students and passionate about the belief that all students can learn.

Days and Times: 

Flexible: We have three different schools (Elementary, Middle, and High School) with school days varying by each school. Operating hours at our schools are between 7:15 AM - 5:00 PM. 

How to get here:
Middle School: Located at 5908 Manor Rd (78723) which is approximately 10 minutes, by car, from the UT campus.
It is approximately a 30-minute bus ride from the UT campus. Metro Bus # 20 drops a block away from our location.

Elementary & High School: Located at 7424 E Highway 290 (78723) which is approximately 12 minutes, by car, from the UT campus
It is approximately a 50-minute bus ride from the UT campus. Metro Bus # 10 drops a few blocks away from our location. 

Hours Per Week: 
Successful interns will be able to commit 10+ hours a week
