The Foundry located on the first floor of The Fine Arts Library and is a joint initiative of the University of Texas Libraries and the College of Fine Arts. The purpose of this internship is to gain hands-on experience with the equipment in the Foundry and in turn gain experience in teaching others to use it as well as helping provide access to an interdisciplinary, constructivist, inclusive learning space that encourages students, faculty, and staff to explore the practice of making. Students will be coached in designing and teaching workshops in The Foundry makerspace. They will also be asked to contribute to providing equipment certifications, which are shorter teaching interactions, typically around 30 minutes. For these, the intern will be expected to teach from an existing lesson plan. Interns will gain experience in the management of makerspace teaching activities by participating in and designing learning experiences.
*Note - This internship is restricted to students participating in UTeach Maker.
