Make a difference this semester! Girlstart is seeking MULTIPLE STEM CREW (Creative, Resourceful, Empowered Women) program leaders to teach in our after-school clubs in Austin and surrounding areas. After-school clubs meet once a week for an hour immediately after the school day. This is a great opportunity to work directly with elementary and middle school girls on hands-on science, engineering, technology, and math activities. Improve your classroom management skills, teaching style, and gain curriculum writing experience. Join Girlstart's efforts to educate and empower girls! Why should I choose Girlstart:

We can pay $1-$2 more hourly on top of your UTeach rate (depending on experience) - It is the INTERN'S responsibility to discuss this with the site supervisor and set up needed paperwork at the START of the internship.
Mileage reimbursement for selected programs
Past UTeach interns have positions in Austin, Houston and Dallas
Girlstart has funds to pay during holidays and dead days

Responsibilities:

Lead after-school curriculum focused on science, technology, engineering and math (curriculum provided by Girlstart)
Implement and run engaging icebreakers
Prepare materials needed prior to each week (Girlstart provides materials)
Learn and implement the Girlstart method  within ALL program activities
Maintain program attendance and evaluation information
Act as Girlstart liaison to club girls
Responsible for clean up after lessons
Facilitate classroom management techniques
Act as a positive role model for girls
Provide feedback to Program Director

Days and Times: 

Available 3+ hours per week, flexible, but at least one day after school on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays (available starting @ 2pm), hours at Girlstart main office, and a few Saturday events throughout the semester. Attend a mandatory curriculum training.
