Reagan Early College High School recently won a large prize to build a makerspace, and this internship will focus on how to further develop and use the new Reagan Makerspace to empower and inspire our student population.
Specifically, there is a senior-level capstone engineering course designed for students to embrace the maker mindset. Students have freedom to develop their own unique projects while learning how to use the available tools and supplies in our space: 3D printers, a CNC router, laser cutter, Arduino, Rasberry PI with and a wide assortment of hand and power tools. Interns will work directly with these students to help them choose relevant projects and develop their skills across a wide toolset.
Outside of the capstone class interns will help run the makerspace behind the scenes, setting the vision for equipment, supplies, organization and logistics for how to run the space effectively. The intern can also assist students in the Project Lead the Way Engineering courses at Reagan or the after-school robotics team, as available.
